Today before the
opening bell, Big Tree Group announced plans for opening a toy sales and
distribution center in Thailand. A China-based publicly held entity that serves
as a “one stop shop” for the sourcing and distribution of toys and related
products, the company is making this move to strengthen its market presence in
Southeast Asia. It has entered into a leasing agreement with Plaza Company
Limited for a 4000-square meter showroom in Bangkok, Thailand. The showroom
will be a key asset in establishing future relationships for regional sales
success in this part of Asia.
Industry reports
confirm that Asia is the third largest market for global toy sales behind the
United States and the European Union. Asia is also slated to become the largest
traditional toys and games market worldwide sometime within this decade,
reflecting its growing relevance to toy producers, providers, and distributors
worldwide.
Mr. Wei Lin,
Chairman and CEO of Big Tree Group, stated, “In addition to building our strong
presence in regions such as the European Union and North America, we are
targeting future growth from emerging economies. With expectations for strong
economic growth in Southeast Asia, especially in Thailand, in the coming years,
we expect the toy industry here to grow at a very healthy pace for the
foreseeable future as more consumers increase their discretionary spending. We
see this as the right time for us to expand our operations into Thailand and
establish this center as a hub for our overall growth in Southeast Asia.”
Big Tree Group saw a
91% increase in total revenues ($16.4 million) from its most recent quarter
compared to the same period in 2012. The company functions as an authorized
sales agent for over 8,000 toy manufacturers in China, and sources over 300,000
different toy products, including remote control toys, digital toys, and sports
toys, to play sets, educational toys, dolls, and infant toy products. Big Tree
Group is based in Shantou City of the Guangdong province, a city that is known
as the toy capital of the world and is responsible for 70% of all Chinese toy
sales, including exports.
