The company expects to initially produce 25 homes a week, hopes to reach full capacity of 75 homes a week as time goes on.

Based on these production rates, Global Links projects that the Sierra Leone facility will generate monthly revenue of between $200,000 and $600,000. The project will be financed in part by HFC Mortgage and Savings (SL) PLC in its initial phase.

OxySure Systems, Inc. (OXYS) Demonstrates Growth through Positive Second Quarter Results

OxySure Systems is showing sure signs of progress and momentum, as demonstrated by its performance over the past few quarters and data released this week on this year’s second quarter earnings.

On August 13, 2013, the company reported its second quarter financial results for the period ending on June 30. Total revenues were reported at $476,000, a 657% increase over the same period in 2012 and 98% sequentially from the first quarter of this year. Revenues consisted of $364,000 in products sales and $113,000 in revenues under licensing and service agreements.

Operating expenses for the second quarter totaled $664,000, consisting of $152,000 in cost of goods sold, $133,000 in sales and marketing, $195,000 in general and administrative, and $183,000 in research and development. The company’s gross margin hit 68% in the second quarter, up from 60% in the same period of last year.

The company’s operating expenses continue to remain under control; net loss totaled $193,000, a $25,000 improvement from the second quarter 2012. OxySure exited the second quarter with $96,000 in cash. Operating and investing cash burn totaled $293,000, however, the company saw a number of warrants exercised that provided approximately $294,000 in cash. The company continues to fund operations through warrant exercising and small equity “drip” financings.

Over the past year, the total number of derivative securities outstanding was reduced by approximately 2.038 million. As of June 30, OxySure had $288,000 in inventory on the books. Total assets increased to $1.37 million as of the same time, up from $1.21 million at the end of December 2012. Although still not yet profitable, OxySure is clearly moving in the right direction.

Analysts believe that OxySure’s top-line growth is being driven by a combination of new customer wins, continued business with existing customers, a new and growing military business, and signing new distribution partners in the U.S. and internationally.

One product in particular, the Model 615 Emergency Oxygen System, which is designed to deliver supplemental oxygen in medical emergencies, is a potential breakthrough product that could help the company achieve real gains over the next few years. This, and the company’s significant growth, leads many to believe that the company will generate a positive cash flow by 2016 and could generate over $10 million in operating cash flow by 2018.

The positive developments seen in the first half of this year are expected to continue as 2013 wraps up, as OxySure has been very active in signing new partnerships and distribution agreements. In March, the company signed a deal with Aero Healthcare for a minimum purchase order of 4,500 units of the Model 615. In May, OxySure signed a deal with Medizon B.V. Medizon for distribution of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg, and will now distribute the Model 615 as well. The deal comes with a minimum purchase order of 2,250 units.

A month later, in June, OxySure signed a non-exclusive distribution agreement with Aventric Technologies to sell the company’s full portfolio of products. Aventric Technologies has a strong presence in the K-12 education market, and also sells imaging and medical equipment, including AEDs, to hospitals, clinics and other alternative point-of-care facilities.

With an expanding product line and an increasing number of distribution agreements, the positive momentum clearly evident in the first half of the year is expected to carry over to the third and fourth quarter.

Trio Resources, Inc. (TRII) Looks to Expand Land Position, Forms Wholly-Owned E&D Subsidiary

Trio Resources announced formation today of a wholly-owned subsidiary that will go out beyond the company’s asset base of above-ground mineralized materials with known quantities and do exploration, development, joint ventures, and property acquisitions aimed at expanding TRIO’s already impressive footprint of precious and base metal reserves.

This new subsidiary, Trio Resources Exploration and Development Inc., is a key step for the company on the road to maximizing the value of its assets and will aid in differentiating the company’s two primary areas of operation. They also have some choice crushed and trenched material ready for milling, with two 16k ton piles of silver-cobalt, the first grading 38 opt Ag (or some 608k ounces) and the second grading 25 opt Ag (400k ounces), as well as a 16k ton pile of material scooped out during trenching that holds roughly 25 opt Ag (another 400k ounces right there).

TRIO also has a tailings pond and muck pile to process, with nearly 348k tons of material grading 1.4 opt Ag (almost 494k ounces of silver) in the pond and another 910k tons in the muck pile(s) grading 10 opt Ag, or a whopping 9.1M ounces of silver. Naturally the company is looking to expand beyond this stable resource base and add some E&D operations to their portfolio which already contains the 94-acre Duncan-Kerr Property (comprised of two contiguous mining patents) just outside Cobalt, Ontario, in Coleman Township.

TRIO is the best of both worlds now that they have created an E&D subsidiary. On the one hand you have assayed material ready to process for generating steady cash flow at the company’s state-of-the-art milling facility on the Duncan-Kerr Property; on the other hand you have a subsidiary pushing the exploration and development side of the business. Keep in mind that the extant logistics are solid as well and TRIO looks like a real hot property in the space. Duncan-Kerr is in a strategic, keystone location for former mining facilities in the area and has an existing hydro-electrical connection, as well as close access to water sources and well developed roads near the railway lines.

When carbohydrates enter your body’s digestive system they are converted to glycogen and are either used immediately for energy or are stockpiled in the muscles and liver to be used for energy at a later time. Simple carbohydrates, those that comprise refined sugar, raise blood sugar at a faster and higher rate than healthy complex-carbohydrate foods.

Consumption of these sugars has led to alarmingly high diabetes rates in both adults and children. Manchester, NH-based Boston Therapeutics is determined to do something about this.

The innovative pharmaceutical company is working to develop and commercialize complex carbohydrate compounds for people with diabetes to help people moderate their blood glucose levels after carbohydrate-rich meals.

Boston Therapeutics solution is a chewable, locally acting complex carbohydrate-based compound, PAZ320, which has been clinically shown in early studies to slash post-meal glucose elevation by nearly 50 percent.

The company has developed a proprietary polysaccharide, known as a carbohydrate hydrolyzing enzyme inhibitor (CHEI), to be taken before meals. This molecule works in the gastrointestinal tract to block the enzymes that aid in the digestion of sugar in the intestine.

In a phase II study of PAZ320 last year, results showed that 45 percent of patients responded to PAZ320 with a 40 percent reduction of post-meal glucose in the blood.

PAZ320 will soon be studied in upcoming phase II and phase III clinical trials with about 300 patients. Based on the positive results from the previous study on patients with Type 2 diabetes, Boston Therapeutics is optimistic itPAZ320 will achieve significant results in the next round of testing.

“We believe that what we have in our hands is an absolute blockbuster,” Platt told the Union Leader. “It could take time for people to understand the magnitude of the data that we have … Medicine is very conservative, and the clinical data will talk for themselves.”

Calpian, Inc. (CLPI) Targets Multiple Markets and Revenue Sources

In the U.S., Calpian, among other things, is a leader in a portion of the electronic payments industry known as merchant acquiring. Specifically, Calpian purchases recurring monthly income streams derived from credit card processing fees paid by U.S. retail merchants. Small and medium size businesses typically buy credit card processing services from ISOs (Independent Sales Organizations) that in turn work with one or more credit card processors. Calpian buys residual portfolios from ISOs that originated the contracts with merchants. Calpian also acquires ISOs who maintain sales forces to engage merchants directly and arrange credit and debit card processing services from processors.

In addition, Calpian has a growing financial position in India’s Money on Mobile service (MoM), a mobile payment processing service in India. It is believed to be the largest store network for mobile phone based transactions providing mobile top-up and DTH (Direct To Home) recharge services in India. MoM has identified two potential revenue streams. Its business model generates revenue from phone and TV bulk buying discounts (a proven current source of revenue), and consumer fees (3% per transaction) applied to transactions not involving purchase of a service.

First is via business-to-business (B2B) activity, consisting of the reselling of prepaid phone and prepaid TV time to retailers who then resell that time to consumers. This activity is currently operational and generating revenues.

The second way MoM plans to generate revenue is to empower consumers to use their cell phones to make payments directly to vendors and other consumers. Such direct person-to-person transfer payments are known as domestic remittances. According to BankNetIndia, the total transaction value of domestic remittance in India stood at $13.0 billion in 2010 with 80% of domestic remittance directed towards rural areas. This overall market is expected to reach about $20.3 billion by 2014, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 12%.

The dangers for young people whose bodies are still developing (especially the brain of those younger than 14) and pregnant women in particular are severe, with developmental delays in children being quite prominent according to Dr. Agus’ analysis of the available data. Dr. Agus cited a particular study on a town in Japan from back in the 50′s where widespread mercury contamination from a chemical plant of the local population afforded a window into the toxicology of mercury (otherwise difficult data to obtain as direct testing cannot really be done), where results like tremors, memory problems, and other neurological disorders were prevalent. This study has clearly identified one major reason that fish deeper down in the water typically have higher concentrations of mercury as well, namely because near-surface higher concentrations of sunlight helps to break down the mercury.

The study is key because it waves off other non-atmospheric sources via isotopic analysis, indicating that the mercury most likely comes from the atmosphere and pointing a finger directly at the easterly blowing output of coal plants in China and India.
