Mobiquity Technologies, a leader in the
location based mobile solutions space, is seeing its agreement with Simon
expand to create “smart malls” in over 200 retail destinations in the U.S.
using Bluetooth-enabled iBeacon technology. Simon is a global leader in the
retail real estate sector with a market cap just over $51 billion dollars.
The iBeacon technology is powered by
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), which is also known as Bluetooth Smart or Bluetooth
4.0. This means that the beacons can send out signals to any Bluetooth enabled
device that can pick up the Bluetooth Low Energy signals, as long as they are
in close proximity to the beacons. Compatible iBeacon devices include iOS
devices that have Bluetooth 4.0, Android devices with Android 4.3 or later and Bluetooth
4.0 and Mac computers with Bluetooth 4.0 and OS X Mavericks – 10.9.
Simon’s roll-out of Mobiquity’s Mobi-Beacon
network delivers a unique, opt-in opportunity for customers to connect with
retailers, brands and mall apps for time sensitive and relevant offers,
information and real-time experiences. The network is currently deployed at 75
of its top shopping destinations. The expansion of the program to larger
numbers of Simon’s malls, Premium Outlet and Mills centers is slated for
completion by spring 2015.
“We are constantly seeking ways to enhance
the Simon shopping experience through relevant, leading-edge technology,” added
Mikael Thygesen, Chief Marketing Officer of Simon. “We are pleased to help
facilitate the growing adoption of iBeacon technology and believe it is an
important new initiative that will provide Simon, its retailers and brands with
interesting, new ways to reach and communicate with shoppers who choose to opt
in to the program.”
“The relevant and personalized mobile
engagement enabled by our iBeacon-compatible network delivers an entirely new
mechanism for mall retailers and brands to provide value to their clientele,
and more importantly, create compelling experiences for Simon shoppers,” noted
Michael Trepeta, co-CEO of Mobiquity Technologies. “The ground-breaking
capabilities enabled by the network should inspire every retailer and
mall-based brand to develop creative campaigns that engage prospective shoppers
and drive traffic from the common areas to their desired location.”
Mobiquity is positioned as a technology
company focusing on connecting consumers and brands through one platform. The
company is in pursuit of revolutionizing the Location Based Mobile Ecosystem by
raising “Fan Engagement” through its networks using Beacon, Standard Bluetooth,
Wi-Fi, NFC and QR technologies. For more information about Mobiquity
