Medient Studios announced that the motion picture “Yellow,” produced by Medient CEO Manu Kumaran, was awarded “Best Film” at the Catalina Film Festival.
Directed by Nick Cassavetes, whose previous films include “The Notebook,” “My Sister’s Keeper” and “John Q,” “Yellow” is the story of young substitute teacher Mary Holmes, who escapes from the drudgery of her everyday life by fantasizing strange parallel realities. The audience follows Holmes into her hallucinatory world, which is filled with Busby Berkeley dancers, Cirque du Soleil entertainers, circus freaks, and human farm animals. In Holmes’ world, nothing is at it seems.

“Yellow” stars Heather Wahlquist, Sienna Miller, Melanie Griffith, Gena Rowlands, Lucy Punch, Riley Keough, Max Thieriot, Daveigh Chase, David Morse, Ray Liotta, Brendan Sexton and Ethan Suplee. The film has been receiving standing ovations from both audiences and critics alike on the worldwide festival circuit. In addition to CFF, “Yellow” has been screened at Toronto International Film Festival, SXSW, Tokyo International Film Festival, International Film Festival in Goa, and Seattle International Film Festival, among others.
“Yellow” is slated for theatrical release in early 2014.
