The Aristocrat Group Corp. (ASCC) Sees Valuable Potential in Burgeoning e-Book Market

The Aristocrat Group, a women’s lifestyle company with a focus on the transition to parenthood, is looking for avenues to profit from the multi-billion digital marketing age, in line with the company’s new publishing initiative.

In an age of all-things digital, the company is eyeing the e-book market, which Pricewaterhouse Coopers anticipates will represent 50 percent of the $21 billion U.S. consumer book market by 2016.

ASCC’s broader strategy is to deliver new social tools for women, and finds that it can leverage the popularity of e-book purchasing as growing numbers of consumers opt to read content on tablets and smartphones.

“E-books digital distribution model makes perfect sense for the busy female consumers that we’ve interviewed in our focus groups,” ASCC CEO Cindy Morrissey stated in the press release. “In addition to the ‘cool factor’ of using high-tech gadgets to read the latest Twilight novel, e-readers also make book discovery a social experience, with crowd-sourced recommendations based on your profile replacing Oprah’s Book Club.”

The company said it believes that digital distribution provides a means for it to publish and sell popular titles without cutting deals with major retailers or publishing houses, which could help the company turn a profit off book sales more quickly.
