Digital Caddies and National Golf Management (NGM) announced that the two companies have signed an agreement to install Digital Caddies’ Players Network at NGM’s golf properties in and around Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
The Players Network was launched by Digital Caddies this past spring. The software is a tablet-based technology platform installed on golf carts that connects to the Web through Sprint’s high-speed wireless network and improves guests’ experiences by providing instant and accurate yardages, real-time food and beverage interaction, and other content golfers demand.
“The Digital Caddies tablet-based platform is the ideal solution for our golf properties,” commented Bob Mauragas, president of National Golf Management. “It’s a cutting-edge amenity we can now offer our golfers without increasing our expenses. Plus, the Players Network is an opportunity for our courses to generate additional revenue.”
National Golf Management Company, a leading golf course management company in the southeast, was formed in 2012 with a merger of Myrtle Beach National Company and Burroughs & Chapin Golf Management. NGM oversees, through ownership and/or management, 22 golf courses in and around Myrtle Beach. This makes NGM the largest, most dominant golf management entity in South Carolina.
“We’re delighted to partner with a like-minded innovator in National Golf Management,” stated Digital Caddies President Mike Loustalot. “Myrtle Beach is one of the world’s most popular year-round golf destinations and is a key advertising market in the expansion of the Digital Caddies Players Network.”
Operating on Sprint’s 3G high-speed network, the new Digital Caddies platform is a powerful tool for golf course operators to improve their guests’ experiences, build guest loyalty, increase course revenue and lower operating costs, and is free to qualifying golf courses.
The new tablet platform provides content specifically designed to promote interaction between the golfer and the device throughout their round. As such, this system provides an excellent opportunity for golf course operators and advertisers to interact directly with golfers in ways that have never been possible.
“The rapid regional growth of The Players Network is astounding – from the southwest to the southeast in just a few months,” commented Kimberly Green-Kerr, regional vice president, Sprint. “We’re excited to see this continued validation of the Players Network. This is an excellent application of how Sprint customers can leverage our 3G wireless network to deliver innovative solutions to their industry.”
Through the utilization of the Digital Caddies platform, course operators have the opportunity to increase revenue by promoting merchandise, food and beverage specials, and whatever else they feel is pertinent through the system. Additionally, Digital Caddies can also lead to reduced operating costs by helping them track golf cart inventory, manage driver behavior, and assist in forecasting agronomy issues.
