Behind the Brand: Chanticleer Holdings, Inc. (HOTR) Diligently Working to Grow Hooters® “Foodprint” Abroad

The Hooters® brand is renowned for its wings, cold beer, and pretty girls in short orange shorts. But behind the sauce and the tap is a lesser known brand working hard to establish the Hooters® brand in emerging markets around the world.

Chanticleer Holdings owns and operates Hooters-branded restaurants in several South Africa locations and has joint ventured with the current franchisee in Australia to bring the Hooters menu to Campbelltown, Townsville, and Broadbeach. Additionally, with franchise rights in Hungary and parts of Brazil, HOTR has put its stamp in Europe and South America.

HOTR also has a minority interest in the privately held parent company of the Hooters® brand, Hooters of America (HOA), for which HOTR CEO Michael Pruitt sits on the board of directors. Because HOA is a private entity, investing in HOTR is the only way to invest in the Hooters brand.

HOTR currently owns six restaurants and plans to bump that number to 10 by year-end 2013 by focusing on territories with strong economic growth and compelling demographics. Management believes it could grow to have more than 75 Hooters locations worldwide.

HOTR also seeks out partnerships with highly experienced and well-capitalized restaurant operators in the local international market and focuses on potential restaurant locations that boast attractive leasehold economics.
