Mabwe Minerals Inc. (MBMI) Lays Groundwork to Achieve $22.3M in Revenues

Along with its affiliate,Mabwe Minerals wholly owns the Dodge Mine located in Shamva, Zimbabwe, an area primarily known to be rich in alluvial gold. The Dodge Mine project, however, looks beyond mainstream mining in the area and focuses on the mining, logistics, and commercial sales of barite, a weighting agent for the oil and gas industry. The mineral is also excavated for its medical, paint, and automotive applications.

The company conducts its operations through Mabwe Corp. (Private) Ltd., its indigenous Zimbabwe affiliate. The mine itself will be managed by Mabwe Minerals’ minority-owned partner, WGB Kinsey & Company, Zimbabwe’s most experienced mining and construction company.

Mabwe Minerals’ plans to initiate production this month and projects revenues of $22.3 million based on an agreement with PHI Commodities for 225,000 tons of barite. PHI Commodities, the largest grain importer from the Port of Beira, Mozambique, to Harare, Zimbabwe, has acquired 80 rail wagons and has made arrangements to lease additional wagons linked to express trains along a route consisting of three stops controlled by Mabmwe Minerals from the Shamva Rail Depot to the Port of Beira.

In addition to preparations to support the growing oil and gas drilling fluids sector demands off the coast of Mozambique and South Africa, Mabwe Minerals anticipates meeting customer demands out of Europe and the Middle East by leveraging the expertise its strategic partner, Yasheya Limited, who specializes in the shipment of industrial minerals.
