Brandon Hurlbut Joins ECOtality, Inc. (ECTY) Board of Directors

Leader in clean electric transportation options ECOtality announced today the recruitment of Brandon Hurlbut, former Chief of Staff for the U.S. Department of Energy, to its Board of Directors. Effective as of July 5, 2013. Hurlbut will be ECOtality’s sixth independent director and seventh board member.

Previously acting as former Chief of Staff for the Department Of Energy, Hurlbut oversaw the department’s overall initiatives as well as the management of the federal agency’s daily operations of which included a $27 billion dollar budget and 115,000-person workforce. Additionally, he led the transition team from Energy Secretary Chu to its current Secretary Moniz before leaving his position in June. Previously Hurlbut held the role of Deputy Chief of Staff for the Department Of Energy.

Beginning his career with the Obama Administration, Hurlbut worked in the White House as the Deputy Director of Cabinet Affairs. There he served as the President’s liaison to the Department of Agriculture, Department of Transportation, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Interior and Department of Energy. Prior to that, Hurlbut used his expertise to serve on the Presidential Transition Team, acting as senior personnel staff for the energy and environment cabinet agencies.

Co-founder of Boundary Stone Partners, Hurlbut’s newly launched business advisory firm focuses on technology, capital markets, and policies. Hurlbut is also an active advising consultant to DuSable Capital Management, a private-equity firm focused on energy and infrastructure opportunities. He received his JD from Georgetown University Law Center and has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
