Quamtel, Inc. (QUMI) Subsidiary DataJack Keeps Fresh Eyes on Distribution Opportunities

DataJack, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quamtel, provides nationwide 3G mobile broadband service. While the company is one of many broadband providers in the U.S., it offers a few variants that separate it from much of its competition.

DataJack offers several plans, including those catering to consumers who want low-cost service without a contract, business travelers who pay significant hotel Internet usage fees, and to the immigrant population, which is generally lacking sufficient credit history.

DataJack offers its services to more than 12,900 cities across the nation, where customers can utilize the company’s WiFi mobile hotspot, which allows for connection of up to five WiFi devices, or the Plug and Play USB Device, which provides access to 3G mobile broadband by plugging the device into a laptop or desktop.

In August 2012, DataJack inked a distribution agreement with iTeknik Holding Corp., which provided an additional 3,000 retail locations for customers to purchase DataJack services. Prior to its agreement with iTeknik, DataJack completed a point of sale integration with DST Networks, opening an additional 1,800 retail locations.

DataJack currently offers data coverage to 280 million people nationwide. The company’s strategic partnerships continue to bolster its nationwide distribution channel as it seeks out revenue building opportunities.

In July, parent company Quamtel reported an increase of 46 percent in the company’s six-month revenue to $1.22 million vs. $840,374 in the comparable six months of 2011, which Quamtel attributed to DataJack.

“While the domestic and world economies appear to be in a state of financial limbo, the consumer appetite for mobile broadband Internet access continues to remain strong and seems to be continuing to expand. We are pleased to be in the center of that market sector and that our revenue growth reflects the strong demand from our DataJack Inc. subsidiary,” Quamtel CEO Stuart Ehrlich stated.
