Wave Systems announced that earlier in October, the company received a Golden Bridge Award for top honor in the case study and best deployment category. The award was in relation to Wave’s EMBASSY software.
Wave Systems is focused on data encryption from within the hardware of computing systems rather than via layered software. Wave refers to this as “starting inside the device.” Wave’s self-encrypting devices (SEDs) automatically encrypt all data written to the drive in real time, minimizing the impact on system performance.
The deployment that won Wave the Golden Bridge award involved Barnabas Healthcare, which replaced software encryption with SEDs managed by Wave’s EMBASSY software. This was placed on the drives of hundreds of laptops used by doctors, executives, and administrators in more than a dozen facilities.
Brian Berger, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Wave, said, “Patient trust and confidentially were the drivers behind Barnabas Healthcare’s decision to select SEDs with our management console. They saw significant advantages in the time and overhead expenses, while ensuring compliance with HITECH and HIPAA.”
