PASSUR Aerospace Inc. provides the industry standard in business intelligence dashboards and predictive analytics for aviation organizations. The company serves most major airlines, over 50 airport customers, more than 200 corporate aviation customers and the US government.
The company announced today that its pioneering, patent-pending system solution reduced ground congestion and delays during runway construction at one of the nation’s busiest airports, John F. Kennedy International. PASSUR’s collaborative passive software solutions and professional services program effectively coordinate the many elements of airport operations. This significantly reduces the length and duration of departure queues on the tarmac, reducing airline fuel costs and carbon emissions.
The departure metering program is a successful collaboration between the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the airlines coordinated by PASSUR. The Port Authority and a number of airlines cited the PASSUR system as a key element in minimizing disruption of operations while the airport’s Bay Runway – the longest and most heavily used of JFK’s four runways – was closed for reconstruction from March through June.
A recent article in the Wall Street Journal listed fuel savings and improvements in the passenger experience as two of the most critical benefits of the program. The FAA’s director of system operations, Mike Sammartino, was quoted in the article as saying that “It’s been a home run.” He went on to say that the program will stay in place since “Everyone sees the benefit.”
Because of its success, PASSUR’s program has been extended to run at JFK to at least the end of 2010. For more information on PASSUR, please visit its website at www.passur.com
