Platinum Studios, Inc. announced today that they have partnered with James Wan, co-creator and director of the original blockbuster “Saw,” and William Stuart’s Aurora Productions to bring Platinum Studios’ graphic novel “Nightfall” to the silver screen. Mr. Wan still is an Executive Producer of the thriller series that has grossed nearly $1 billion globally. The original “Nightfall” was written and created by Scott O. Brown with the artwork done by Ferran Xalabarder and published in 2007.
“The minute I heard the concept, I was in,” says Wan, “and then reading the graphic novel cemented that. Like ‘Saw’ it’s a simple concept that, if executed correctly, will be so cool.”
“James is the perfect director to bring ‘Nightfall’ to the big screen,” says Platinum CEO and producer Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. “James’ experience crafting the contained horror in ‘Saw,’ will be a big help in his informing the visual experience of ‘Nightfall.’”
Also integral to “Nightfall” reaching the big screen is Mitch Rosenberg and William Stuart, who will produce the feature and Randy Greenberg, a former Senior Executive at Universal Pictures, who will serve as Executive Producer.
“Nightfall” is not the only title in Platinum Studio’s library. Other titles in production include:
• “Cowboys & Aliens” – Producers Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer – In conjunction with Dreamworks, Universal Pictures, Image Entertainment and Kurtzman/Orci (“Transformers” and “Star Trek” franchises)
• “Dylan Dog: Dead Of Night” – an independently financed feature
Also in development for Platinum:
• “Unique” – Producer David Heyman (“Harry Potter”) at Walt Disney Pictures with Executive Producer March Silvestri (“Wanted”), Arclight Films and Top Cow Productions, Inc.
• “Mal Chance” – Producer Tony Krantz (“24”)
• “Blood Nation” – Producer Alexandra Milchan
• Also an untitled feature film project at Sony Pictures Animation
