Rockwell Diamonds reported a strategic and operational update on the company’s recent mining activities. The company owns an interest in three producing diamond mines in South Africa.
Rockwell Diamonds is ramping up production at the Tirisano mine and expects this mine to be operating at full capacity by the end of July 2012. The company recently approved an equipment upgrade at Tirisano that will enable the company to deal with production problems associated with wet ores.
Rockwell Diamonds reported strong growth in carat production at the Saxendrift mine, with year-over-year production rising by 50%. The company attributed the gain to operational improvements at the mine. Rockwell Diamonds also added a bulk x-ray machine at Saxendrift to help improve operations, as well as opened two new mining areas here.
Rockwell Diamonds reported a 57% increase in carat production at the Klipdam mine after a strategic decision was implemented that involved shifting mining to a different gravel area.
Rockwell Diamonds is currently conducting due diligence on the Jasper mine and estimates this transaction will close by May 2012. The company expects to begin an initial exploration program here by July 2012.
