Hooper Holmes, a leading provider of health risk assessment services for the insurance and healthcare industries, announced today it has officially launched iParamed 2.0. This electronic exam with built-in completion technology allows the company’s nationwide network of health professionals to conduct electronic paramedical exams in locations where there is little or no cellular service.
With a booming demand for electronic exams, health professionals nonetheless have to conduct exams at the homes or offices of life insurance applicants – often in areas where there is a weak or nonexistent wireless signal. To guarantee greater use of electronic exams, Hooper Holmes elected to develop its own proprietary software solution with built-in completion technology – enabling its health professionals to work offline until exams have been completed. This technology permits health professionals to go virtually anywhere in the country and conduct exams regardless of cellular availability.
With the iParamed system, once an exam has been started, if there is no available cellular connection the applicant’s information is temporarily stored on a secure encrypted drive. Once a connection is available, the encrypted data is transmitted securely to Hooper Holmes’ proprietary systems and delivered to the life insurance carrier. All data is then erased from the healthcare professional’s netbook.
Life insurance companies rely on electronic exams because they make information available within minutes of completion, allowing data to be imported into underwriting systems. Hooper Holmes first introduced iParamed e-Exam in the first quarter 2011; by September, the system was deployed throughout the country. Using the company’s proprietary netbooks – which are wireless-enabled terminals – the company’s health professionals can go on exam appointments without the necessity of taking their own laptops and wireless cards. The company currently has many leading carriers on the iParamed platform with more forthcoming.
Hooper Holmes is an industry leader in collecting personal health data and transforming it into useful information. This enables customers to take action that either manages or reduces risk and expenses. The company has a presence in hundreds of markets and a health professional network that is thousands-strong, allowing Hooper Holmes to arrange medical exams anywhere in the U.S. The company has four divisions that provide a wide range of services to insurance and healthcare industry customers: Portamedic, Heritage Labs, Hooper Holmes Health & Wellness, and Hooper Holmes Services.
