RELM Wireless, a supplier of high-specification, two-way communications equipment for use by public safety professionals and government agencies, as well as radios for use in a wide range of commercial and industrial applications, announced yesterday that RELM’s new KNG Series Trunked Radios have successfully completed Cassidian Communications’ Interoperability Program (IOP).
The Cassidian Communication Interoperability Program (IOP) is a very thorough testing program that guarantees first responders have powerful, flexible, and reliable communications tools they can count on. The testing accurately replicates scenarios and conditions displayed in mobile situations as well as fieldwork. IOP tests the compatibility of third-party P25 components with the Cassidian Communications CORP25 digital trunked radio system.
Now that the KNG series has passed the IOP, public safety agencies can select RELM’s new KNG series and be confident that the RELM components will successfully interoperate with the CORP25 system throughout the entire range of operating conditions. IOP, which takes place in the Cassidian Communications R&D Centre in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada, is a significant step in developing multi-vendor ecosystems and best-in-class communications networks.
“RELM Wireless is pleased to achieve this level of interoperability with Cassidian Communications. This extensive testing supplements RELM’s P25 Compliance Assessment Program testing and further confirms the reliability and value of our KNG series radios,” stated RELM President and CEO David Storey. “Our KNG Series trunking radios are currently providing outstanding value for first responders operating P25 trunking systems from Cassidian Communications and other network providers. We welcome this opportunity to document the performance, reliability, and interoperability of RELM radio products with Cassidian Communications.”
The CORP25 digital trunked Land Mobile Radio (LMR) solution from Cassidian Communications is the industry’s only true non-proprietary P25 network offering. Open and standards-compliant, the IP-based CORP25 radio system enables interoperability within and between systems, and it allows agencies to select radios, consoles, recorders, and other network components from a variety of different suppliers – offering both economical and operational advantages over proprietary systems. This innovative “true-choice” approach enables competitive procurements and allows customers to build the best networks . . . with the best equipment . . . for the best price.
“Cassidian Communications is committed to providing open, standards-based radio network solutions that support the APCO Project 25 goals of component interoperability, greater competition and lower costs,” said Bill Book, Cassidian Communications, LMR product line manager. “We are pleased that RELM shares this commitment and that its KNG Series Trunked Radios have successfully completed IOP testing.”
