Golden Valley Development Inc. (GVDI) ‏is “One to Watch”

Incorporated in 2004, Golden Valley Development, Inc. operates as a commodities broker in the United States. They engage in buying commodities, such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and hay, in California’s central valley from local farmers. They then sell the products to different buyers, such as supermarkets, wholesalers, and other farmers located in the State of California. Golden Valley Development, Inc. has their corporate headquarters in Bakersfield, California.

The Company also operates as an agent for the farmer in negotiating contracts between the seller and the buyer. Golden Valley Development, Inc.’s suppliers include small and mid-size farmers, such as Gerowan Farms, HMC Farms, Bolthouse Farms, Grimway Farms, and Giumarra Vineyards. The Company’s competitors include Varsity Produce and Manny Lawrence.

Golden Valley Development Inc.’s business model works well with small, niche farmers. By “niche” farmers the Company means those farmers that produce a niche crop such as alfalfa hay or grass hay, organic produce, and unusual or specialty commodities. The Company is able to work with larger farms and larger buyers on occasion. This is because they retain the advantage of quality control. The Company sends out a field inspector to make sure all the produce that is loaded onto trucks is of high quality. This is something the buyers and farmers do not undertake themselves.
