Balqon Corp. (BLQN.OB) Will Equip Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant with its Zero Emissions Tractors

Balqon, the developer/manufacturer of zero emissions heavy-duty electric drive systems, trucks and tractors reported today, in conjunction with logistics services provider T&K Logistics, Inc., a collaborative effort to supply Ford Motor Company’s Michigan Assembly Plant with a zero emissions transportation solution.

T&K provides logistics services to Ford at the assembly plant in Wayne, Michigan and manages on-site transportation of trailers/containers.

The collaborative arrangement will see 10 of BLQN’s 30 ton electric yard tractors (Model XE20) leased to T&K, resulting in improved efficiency and a substantially improved environmental profile for Ford’s Wayne facility.

CEO of BLQN, Balwinder Samra, recognized Ford as a leader when it comes to consistency in the implementation of clean technology throughout its infrastructure, citing the massive contribution which BLQN’s vehicles can make towards helping Ford realize this constant goal.

Samra noted specific features of the Company’s vehicles, like the way the vehicles are designed to be charged via solar panels on the plant’s rooftop, effectively making this the “first large-scale, clean energy, zero emissions technology demonstration for heavy duty trucks”.

The arrangement is really a feather in everyone’s cap, and it’s a very good opportunity for BLQN to gain even greater exposure for its innovative series of robust electric vehicles.

President of T&K, Kelley Stewart, echoed Samra’s comments, expressing great pride at being able to participate in this, the first application of zero emissions electric vehicles within the automotive assembly environment.

The Company is in an even better market position now to drive home revenues to shareholders, with an environmentally friendly technology platform that is in high demand, suitable for 10-50 ton capacity vehicles and gaining more ground in the global market with each passing day.

The range Lithium battery-powered tow tractors which BLQN offers are ideal for manipulating transport containers and constitute a sustainable, 21st century solution for a majority of the world’s ports, rail yards and similar infrastructure.
