Converted Organics Inc. (COIN) Scores Big in Golf Course and Lawn Care with Organic Fertilizer Studies

Converted Organics Inc. (Nasdaq: COIN) is working to produce all-natural, organic soil amendment fertilizer products through food waste recycling. Converted Organics has conducted several studies to test the results of a farmer’s crop when treated with the company’s products.

The company today announced the results from warm season turf trials of its TurfBlend 6-0-0, Biolizer GP, and Biolizer 5-2-1 products at the University of Florida, Ft. Lauderdale. The study shows that Converted Organics’ liquid organic fertilizer produced as quick and effective results as a standard soluble urea for golf course greens and St. Augustine grass.

“These trial results are very significant because they demonstrate that Converted Organics’ liquid organic fertilizers can be used as effectively as standard inorganic urea, which is a first for a liquid organic fertilizer product,” William A. Torello, Ph.D., director of Product Research and Development for Converted Organics stated in the press release.

Dr. Torello said the company expects the products to attract the attention and favor of professionals in the lawncare and related business.

“We anticipate that golf course superintendents and lawn care professionals will find these trial results very compelling, since they indicate that Converted Organics’ Turf-Blend™ 6-0-0, Biolizer GP and Biolizer 5-2-1 can replace urea in terms of speed-of-action, while also increasing soil health and reducing plant disease,” he stated.

When treated with Converted Organics’ fertilizer treatments, the ultradwarf bermudagrass had to be mown daily at 1/8 inch and the St. Augustinegrass had to be mown weekly at 3 inches.

“This study indicates that Converted Organics’ Biolizer and Biolizer GP products can and should be used in all facets of the green industry. In particular, these products represent cost-effective organic liquid fertilizer options for the lawn care industry, which is a significant market opportunity for Converted Organics,” Dr. Torello stated. “While golf course professionals will still be attracted to our Turf-Blend 6-0-0 for greens, tees and approaches due to the higher lysine analysis, they can now also comfortably opt for our Biolizer GP fertilizer for larger fairway and rough areas.”

Not only are the products efficient in promoting growth and health, they also have a longer shelf life as compared to other organic fertilizers and can be used on a stand-alone basis or in combination with other fertilizers. The company has conducted several lab and field trials to determine the efficacy of the products against powdery mildew.
