Z Trim Holdings, Inc. (ZTMH) Adds Fiber to the American Dietetic Association’s Food and Nutrition Conference

The new trend is for foods that typically don’t contain fiber to have “added fiber” as a health and nutritional sales point. Z Trim Holdings, Inc. manufactures a multifunctional fiber blend called Z Trim. This natural, functional food ingredient is made from the hulls of corn and is a versatile product that can serve as a fat replacement, thickening agent or emulsifier with texturization – commonly used for its binding, shaping, suspension, water control and pH balance attributes. Because Z Trim is non-caloric dietary fiber, replacement of added fats with Z Trim can achieve up to 80% calorie reduction in many foods without negatively affecting taste or texture, and can substantially reduce harmful trans and saturated fats found in many foods.

At the American Dietetic Association’s Food and Nutrition Conference and Exposition at McCormick Place West, October 26-28, 2008, Z Trim will be showcased in all Walden Farm’s products. In place of the usual gums or modified starches that typical non-gluten products have to incorporate to give a good “mouth-feel,” Walden Farms’ products will be using Z Trim. Products on display may include the Walden Farms lines of zero calorie mayo salad and sandwich spread, creamy peanut spread, chocolate syrup, pancake syrup, fruit syrup, fruit spreads, jams and jellies, dressings, veggie dips, fruit dips, barbecue sauce, ketchup, seafood sauce, Alfredo, marinara and other pasta sauces. Z Trim food technology provides a natural solution to global challenges of obesity and associated health problems.

Made from insoluble plant fiber, Z Trim gel also provides most of the benefits of soluble fiber. Z Trim is a plant-derived (usually from cereals ad legumes) dietary fiber with a cellulose-to-hemi-cellulose ratio of approximately 80:20, a ratio closely in line with many fibers from whole grain. As such, studies and recommendations concerning the health value of dietary fibers from plants by entities such as the FDA, National Academy of Sciences, National Cancer Research Institute, Codex Alimentations, EC Commission, and FAO of the United Nations are directly applicable to Z Trim. Z Trim excels in the plant dietary fiber category due to its high viscosity and water holding properties.
