Sona Mobile Holdings Corporation (SNMB.OB), a leading provider of secure software solutions for gaming and entertainment applications, today announced the launch of their first live mWagerTM mobile gaming application with the New York Racing Association (NYRA), one of the most powerful racetrack operators in the thoroughbred business. NYRA operates the three biggest thoroughbred racetracks in New York, Belmont, Saratoga, and Aqueduct, and processed more than $1 billion in wagers last year.
Sona Mobile’s new mWager platform represents a major advance in bringing track wagering to mobile devices. Although the company’s current Sona Gaming SystemTM (SGS) product provides both wired and wireless server-based gaming content, the mWager platform brings a rich gaming experience to almost any mobile phone, PDA, or tablet device. It is the first media management system to deliver true push-media and streaming content capability to BlackBerry® devices, eliminating the need for users to manually download video clips. In addition, when configured with SportsbookTM, mWager can be used for all types of sports gaming.
NYRA will launch mWager initially on Blackberry and iPhone devices, and will follow in the coming weeks with Pocket PC, Smart Phone, and browser-based (WAP) offerings. NYRA Rewards mobile wagering patrons will be able to view detailed race program information, such as horse name, owner, trainer, jockey, runner number, saddle towel colors, morning line, minutes to post, scratches, and updated current odds for each horse, in NYRA races live or simulcast. Other functionality will include the ability to view race results, account balance, and wagering history. Sona Mobile will receive a percentage of each wager transacted via the mWager application.
Sona Holdings, based in New York City, is the first in the world to achieve the Gaming Laboratories International, GLI-26 certification, for wireless gaming, as well as the coveted GLI-21 certification for server based gaming. Sona has also received several other certifications: GLI-11 and 12 (gaming devices and progressive gaming devices in casinos), GLI-13 (online monitoring and control) and GLI-16 (cashless systems). These certifications permit Sona to operate its server based gaming system in a variety of domestic and international locations.
