Yesterday, One World Holdings’ subsidiary, The One World Doll Project, announced that it has extended its executive consulting contract with Gene Insley. A former Senior VP Engineering of all Girls Product at Mattel, Mr. Insley is an experienced engineer and product development executive with over 30 years in the toy business.
The One World Doll Project is a line of multi-cultural and fashion dolls designed and created by Mattel™ veteran, Stacey McBride-Irby. The Prettie Girls! dolls are unique in that they mirror the colors, shapes, and physical characteristics of the girls who play with them. The One World Doll Project’s core mission is to make the most significant, positive cultural impacts on play and in the doll category in recent history.
“Upon the launch of this company we knew the guidance of a major toy company executive was going to be mandatory and as a former Sr. VP of Engineering of all Girls product at Mattel, Mr. Insley’s vast experience has been invaluable to us and we are thrilled to have him as a part of the One World team,” said Joanne Melton, One World Holdings’ CEO. She continued, “Under Mr. Insley’s guidance, we have been able to produce our dolls to the highest standards in safety, quality and craftsmanship and that is what we will continue to do now and in the future.”
Mr. Insley’s toy career began at Fisher-Price, where he was instrumental in the creation of many of their most technically innovative and successful products. With the merger of Mattel and Fisher-Price, he moved west to become VP of Engineering, Infant/Preschool products, which eventually grew to include Games/Puzzles and Dolls. He became Sr. VP, Engineering of all Girls product in 1999.
Mr. Insley moved to Hong Kong with Mattel in 2001 to establish a stronger product development relationship with Mattel factories and local suppliers. While in Hong Kong, his responsibilities included product engineering, tooling, and sourcing for all Girls Product. His experience in Hong Kong and throughout Asia over the past 28 years has led to strong relationships with many of the best suppliers, toolmakers, and model shops in those countries.
