Universal Detection Technology (UNDT) Sells Biological Detection Equipment to U.S. Army

Universal Detection Technology, a California developer of early-warning monitoring technologies that protect against biological, chemical, radiological, nuclear and explosive threats, today announced the signing of a purchase order by the US Army for its handheld device that detects the presence of biological hazards.

United Detection Technology has engaged in the marketing and resale of detection devices through partnerships and agreements with various third parties since 2002. The company supplies bioterrorism kits capable of detecting Anthrax, Ricin, Botulinum, plague and SEBs, mold detection kits, chemical detection equipment, radiation detection systems and counter terrorism training sessions. Combining its in-house experience and knowledge with outside expertise from consultants and third parties, United Detection Technology provides clients with threat evaluation and consulting services as well as training courses.

“We are very pleased to supply our armed forces with the tools to detect agents of Bioterror such as Anthrax and Ricin,” said Jacques Tizabi, Chairman and CEO, United Detection Technology in a press release. “We understand that, unfortunately, the threat posed by Biological weapons is very dangerous to the government and the civilian sectors.”

A report by the WMD Center released in October revealed that even though the United States has spent more than $65 billion on biodefense over the past decade, the country is unprepared for a large-scale biological weapons attack. New technological advances have made it possible for small groups of individuals to produce the types of bio-weapons only countries could produce in the 1960s.
