ChromaDex Corp., an innovative natural products and proprietary science-based solutions and ingredients for the dietary supplement, food & beverage, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries, has completed the enrollment of the first human clinical study of its proprietary pTeroPure.
The company will evaluate the efficacy and safety of pTeroPure’s in lowering cholesterol and blood pressure, as well as improve markers for oxidative stress in patients with dyslipidemia.
“Now that trial enrollment is successfully completed, we anticipate release of the trial data in Q2 2012. This first human clinical study of pTeroPure will provide an important independent clinical assessment of what we believe is an enormous opportunity with this product. We anticipate that additional clinical studies involving pTeroPure and other compounds in our pipeline will be initiated in the coming months,” William Spengler, president of ChromaDex, stated in the press release.
pTeroPure is the proprietary brand of the company’s patent-pending pterostilbene, a key ingredient in its recently launched BluScience™ line of dietary supplements, which it currently sells at GNC stores. ChromaDex holds exclusive worldwide rights to patents pending for pterostilbene based on technology licensed from the University of Mississippi, as well as through additional intellectual property developed by the company or in conjunction with leading research institutions.
Pterostilbene, found in certain berries, has demonstrated pre-clinical benefits such as improved levels of cholesterol, blood pressure and oxidative stress.
