Soul and Vibe Interactive, Inc. (SOUL) Enters $56 Billion Digital Game Industry with Strategic Acquisition

Video and computer games company Soul and Vibe Interactive recently completed the acquisition of Soul and Vibe Entertainment, Inc. Peter Anthony Chiodo, a game industry veteran and the CEO and founder of Soul and Vibe Entertainment, has assumed the position of CEO and president of Soul and Vibe Interactive. Pauline Carson, the company’s former CEO, president, and CFO, has transitioned to the position of vice president.

This acquisition has secured Soul and Vibe Entertainment’s valuable contractual agreements as assets for Soul and Vibe Interactive. Some of Soul and Vibe Entertainment’s contractual agreements include a license agreement with General Mills and also game development and publishing agreements for Sony Computer Entertainment America’s PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita; Xbox 360; and Microsoft’s Windows 8, Windows Live, and Windows Phone platforms. Soul and Vibe International will additionally develop and publish games for mobile platforms like Apple iOS and Android.

Peter Anthony Chiodo, CEO and president of Soul and Vibe Interactive, said, “This is an important milestone for us. Our publishing licenses for Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 are key assets that we intend to leverage for the development and publishing of numerous games across multiple genres and platforms. Our product lineup includes a mix of licensed-brand and original IP-based games that are as fun to talk about as they are to play.”

An award-winning 22-year veteran of the video and computer game industry, Chiodo has released more than 200 games during his career. He served as director of product development for Destineer Games from 2003-2011, leading the development of both internal and external games for consoles and personal computers. Managing a 35-person internal development studio, he created and implemented a development process that, over the course of four years, led to the release of more than 100 frontline and casual games. Notably, that studio’s products also secured a capital raise of more than $12 million, which was the second largest capital raise in the interactive industry during 2006. Chiodo and his team developed commercial games as well as “serious games” training tools and simulations for the U.S. Marine Corps and various branches of the federal government.

Chiodo also served as program manager for the Microsoft Corporation from 2000-2003, where he guided internal teams from engine and game prototype to project green light and release for the original Xbox; he also helped coordinate the localization of Xbox launch software for markets in Europe and Japan. Chiodo has additionally served as a consultant to software companies that were engaged in developing “serious games” training tools and simulations to help physicians and nurses provide care to patients with chronic diseases.
