The global beverage market is estimated to be over a trillion dollars, and Cott Corporation is one of the world’s largest producers of private label beverages. With world headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and U.S. headquarters in Tampa, Florida, Cott is a growing producer of beverages, including carbonated soft drinks, shelf-stable juices, still and sparkling waters, ready-to-drink teas, and alcoholic beverages for brand owners. The company employs roughly 4,000 people, with production operations in Canada, the United States, and Mexico, as well as in the UK, and with concentrate sales and bottling partners throughout the world. Cott has substantial R&D capabilities, with scientists and technicians responsible for the development and analysis of every flavor and every beverage, helping ensure the company’s long-standing reputation for high-quality but low-cost products.
Cott has grown rapidly through various acquisitions, becoming a global supplier of soft drink, energy, and other beverage concentrates to independent bottlers. The company now has concentrate sales to over 50 countries, with key customers in Asia, Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East. They are a leading supplier of private label carbonated soft drinks, distributing to Canada, the United States, Mexico, the UK, and Europe. Cott has also developed a large and growing portfolio of its own brands, and has recently expanded into teas, waters, sports drinks, and other beverages.
In 2002, Cott agreed to produce and sell private label soft drinks and waters to major retail and other customers in Mexico, including large multi-national retailers. In 2005, the company acquired Macaw Soft Drinks in the UK, nearly doubling Cott’s UK business, and representing an expansion into preservative-free drink production. In 2010, Cott acquired New York state based Cliffstar Corporation, a leading producer of private label beverages for North America and the world.
Earlier this year, Cott’s Cliffstar subsidiary entered into an agreement with Skinny Nutritional, makers of Skinny Water zero-calorie enhanced beverages. The agreement calls for Cott to be the exclusive producer and distributor for Skinny Water to selected new and existing customers through its massive retail channels, providing significant scalability potential for Skinny.
