Mitel, a prominent distributor of cloud and premises-based unified communications and collaboration solutions, announced that it has entered into a distribution agreement with Tech Data (NASDAQ:TECD). Tech Data Corporation is one of the largest wholesale distributors of technology products worldwide, and its agreement with Mitel will continue to strengthen the company’s expanding position in the U.S. SMB market.
This agreement represents another positive step in the implementation of Mitel’s 3+1 strategy. This innovative strategy has been tailored to promote long-term growth by evolving its channel structure, seeking to bring its diverse product portfolio to market through the broadest and most effective channel delivery and distribution vehicles.
Tech Data’s significant market penetration and presence were the primary factors in their selection by the company. Additionally, Tech Data’s ability to support and grow Mitel and Mitel Channel partner business was taken into account during the selection process. The agreement is designed to optimize service for a select number of existing Mitel channel partners concentrated on the SMB market in the U.S. and extend the influence of particular Mitel SMB solutions to a wider swath of customers.
“As Mitel continues to position the company for sustained long term growth, the U.S. SMB market, where Mitel already enjoys great market traction, presents an outstanding opportunity to further expand the reach and revenue of Mitel and our channel partners,” said Philip Keenan, executive vice president of Mitel Sales and Service in North America. “The ability to effectively support and enable Mitel SMB channels to address the large SMB segment, and to identify and service the broadest range of customers, is key to competing and winning in this space.”
The agreement stipulates the Tech Data will distribute the Mitel UC360 Collaboration Point, a cutting edge new multimedia product released earlier this year, as well as the Mitel 5000 Communications Platform, a market leading SMB solution that provides off-the-shelf support for organizations up to 250 users with a complete suite of business applications.
“Tech Data specializes in streamlining and shortening time to market by offering solutions providers a full suite of support and technical services to move quickly and capture new business,” said Chuck Bartlett, vice president and general manager, Advanced Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) at Tech Data. “Mitel’s off-the-shelf SMB platforms help to enable a significant portion of the SMB market. We are excited to add Mitel to our AIS offering to help both existing and new solutions providers take advantage of the growth opportunities in this evolving market.”
