Elephant Talk Communications yesterday announced that, upon Russell Investment’s June 25 annual compilation, the company would be joining the Russell Global Index (RGI), a comprehensive set of global equity indexes. This is according to a list of additions that was posted June 16 of this year on Russell’s website.
Elephant Talk is focused on developing and marketing business software and services to the telecommunications industry. Elephant Talk allows a diverse range of businesses, from banks and supermarkets to global telecom companies and media firms, the ability to offer their customer base telecom services. Elephant Talk provides a wide suite of product services, including remote health care, credit card fraud prevention, mobile internet ID security, multi-country discounted phone services, and
loyalty management services, among others.
Membership in the RGI lasts for one year; companies listed are included in the appropriate large-cap, small-cap, all-cap indexes, as well as the applicable style, sector, and country indexes. Company membership is determined primarily by objective, market-capitalization rankings and style attributes. The indexes are utilized by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds, as well as benchmarks for both passive and active investment strategies. In the institutional marketplace, $3.9 trillion in assets are currently benchmarked to them.
Steven van der Velden, CEO of Elephant Talk Communications, said, “Inclusion in the Russell Indexes is an important step in the evolution of Elephant Talk and is expected to increase awareness of ETAK among institutional investors and the investment community in general. We believe that being part of such a broadly benchmarked index should increase demand for our stock from investors seeking to track index performance.”
