La Cortez Energy, Inc. provided the investment community with an operational update on the company’s oil and gas activities in various hydrocarbon basins in South America.
La Cortez Energy is actively developing the Maranta and Putumayo-4 blocks located in the Putumayo Basin. The company previously reported that the Mirto-1 well on the Maranta block experienced some technical difficulties due to a malfunctioning pump located at the well site.
La Cortez Energy conducted well servicing operations on the Mirto-1 well and has restored production to 322 gross barrels of oil per day, compared to 341 gross barrels of oil per day prior to the operation.
La Cortez Energy now has two producing wells on this property and is working with Emerald Energy Plc, which is the operator of the property, on a development program for 2012.
La Cortez Energy is working with Petroleos del Norte S.A on the Putumayo-4 Block and has finished the consultation process with the local community and expects to begin a seismic survey in December 2011. The company expects to acquire 105 square kilometers of 2D seismic on the property as part of its work commitment required under the exploration agreement.
