Fuel Tech, Inc. (FTEK) Earns Air Pollution Control Contracts Worth $3.2 Million

Fuel Tech is a world leader in advanced engineering solutions for the optimization of combustion systems and emissions control in utility and industrial applications. The company’s solutions enable its customers to produce both energy and processed materials in a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable manner.

The company announced today that it had been awarded four air pollution control contracts in China, in addition to several orders in Europe and the United States. The total value of all the contracts is $3.2 million.

The first award in China is for a SNCR system on a cement kiln. SNCR technology can provide nitrogen oxide reduction from cement production processes in a straightforward way. Equipment delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2013.

The remaining three contracts (two of which are from new utility customers) in China are for six mid-sized coal-fired units that are being retrofitted with nitrogen oxide reduction technology. The technology is the company’s ULTRA systems that provide safe and cost-effective on-site conversion of urea to ammonia for use as a reagent in the catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxide.

The other contracts include an engineering study for nitrogen oxide control technologies for a European utility, a project in the U.S. to demonstrate the application of SNCR technology, and several modeling projects associated with the evaluation of SCR technology.

Fuel Tech continues to see increased business from China thanks to pollution reduction requirements set forth in the nation’s 12th Five-Year Plan. For additional information about the company and its pollution reducing technologies, please visit www.ftek.com.
