Pristine Solutions today announced the completion of its acquisition of Eaton Scientific Systems Ltd., a biomedical product development company with a focus on women’s health solutions.
As a result of the acquisition, Pristine now holds the intellectual property and global marketing rights to Eaton’s homatropine, a patent pending novel indication of an existing FDA-approved drug for the non-hormonal treatment of hot flashes in pre-menopausal, pari-menopausal, and post-menopausal women. The drug indication is now called Tropine 3, and is currently being prescribed and compounded by doctors in the Los Angeles, Calif., specifically for patients with hot flash symptoms who do not want to take hormonal treatment.
Michael Borkowski, CEO and president of Eaton, detailed the capabilities of Tropine 3 and its target market.
“Every woman who has experienced hot flashes knows the devastating affects they have on themselves personally and on their loved ones. Tropine 3 has been shown in individual cases to reduce the symptoms of hot flashes in terms of intensity, duration, and number of occurrences without the use of dangerous hormones which,” Borkowski stated in the press release. “We look forward to building market awareness and acceptance of Tropine 3 throughout the women’s health care sector in hopes of improving the lives of the over 50 million women in America that would benefit from this proven safe and effective treatment for hot flashes.”
Pristine said it is assembling a senior management team and group of scientific advisors to assist in the ongoing development and clinical testing of Tropine 3.
