The company announced today that it has signed a contract with a New Jersey car dealership. The approved funding for the project will come through the company’s Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) program.
The PPA program allows a customer to pay a discounted price for electricity without spending any cash or accruing debt. A third party owns and operates the system while receiving the benefits generated by the renewable energy system. Those advantages are tax credits, Renewable Energy Credits accelerated depreciation and, in some areas, feed-in tariffs.
This contract is the latest example of Clear Skies Solar’s new focus on smaller, quick turnaround, high-volume and more profitable projects. From contract signature to execution, these projects take anywhere from 2-5 months to develop depending on the complexities of the engineering and interconnection requirements.
The pipeline of sales the company has generated in January 2011 is now being permitted and installations are expected to begin with the first shipment of modules being delivered in 10-14 days. The focus on smaller projects has already brought the company’s 2011 sales to approximately $6 million. Clear Skies expects this growth to continue for the foreseeable future.
