Neustar, www.neustar.biz – the leading internet addressing and domain name service provider bringing cost savings and process benefits to the hectic top level domain (TLD) market, reported entry today into a definitive agreement to acquire the Numbering Solutions business (as well as certain liabilities/assets associated therewith) from Evolving Systems, Inc. for some $39M in cash.
This move will enable NSR to advance its position in operations support systems (OSS) architectures while allowing the Company to keep pace with the rapidly evolving needs of the end market, by developing next-gen network solutions that improve efficiency and flexibility. This is a key technology grab for NSR and represents a serious competitive advantage in the massive, and steadily growing, IP-enabled device landscape, where the significance and operational vitality of exceedingly vast/complex OSS architectures is increasingly felt.
President and CEO of NSR, Lisa Hook, acknowledge the dynamic transformation of the telecom industry that is continuing to progress ever more quickly and cited the Company’s position at the nexus of activity, where NSR stands poised to deliver services that enable optimal yield for clients from their communications infrastructure.
Hook explained the fusion of Evolving Systems capabilities being advanced by the Company and defined this advancement as giving rise to a dynamic new number management paradigm, allowing an impressive expansion of the Company’s Carrier Services portfolio. This expansion, Hook went on to illustrate, offers a robust platform to address current demands while possessing the flexibility to adapt as the IP landscape continues to evolve.
By essentially eliminating the complexity of telephone number and service management, NSR’s Carrier Services, into which the acquired elements will be bundled, offers operators a locally-deployable or hosted model that spans traditional telephony and next-gen infrastructures. Enhanced order management and inventory services offer a full-spectrum solution for number portability and inventory systems in general, readily extensible for the management of telephony and other services associated with connected devices.
This is a major deal for NSR and will effectively springboard the Company into a new category of servicing while effectively extending the core tech portfolio. The Company anticipates closing within 120 days of the signing of the agreement.
