XO Holdings, Inc. (XOHO.OB) Subsidiary Rolls Out Nationwide 40 Gbps Service

XO Holdings, Inc.’s subsidiary XO Communications, a leading US provider of sophisticated broadband services and solutions through its wireless, high-capacity nationwide and metro networks such as data, voice and IP, announced today the debut of 40 gigabits per second (Gbps) service in all of its 75+ major metropolitan markets.

The growing demand for high-speed, scalable, high-performance connectivity solutions, especially from enterprise and wholesale customers (who seek greater traffic capacity and require the necessary fidelity to go along with it), has prompted this move by the Company.

Sizeable enterprises, like financial institutions and trading firms, are generating unprecedented demand for secure connectivity that is reliable and functions at the maximum possible speed, because, in these fields, real-time market data is crucial for the time-sensitive workflows such companies require.

The rapidly increasing amount of 3G- and 4G-driven bandwidth capacity required these days for mobile applications has resulted in massive pressures on wireless providers to find cost-effective solutions for obtaining suitable connections, and it is precisely this state of affairs which makes the 40 Gbps roll-out such a wise move.

New capabilities being introduced include a 40 Gbps Wavelength service which lets customers employ a single 40 Gbps link to connect two locations, thus achieving massive bandwidth and allowing for reduced operational requirements associated with having to buy several 10 Gbps links.

Also available are the 40 Gbps IP Transit services, which will enable aggregation of huge amounts of traffic into a single connection, alleviating the need to manage multiple dedicated ones, thus increasing operational efficiency and streamlining the management process.

Company CTO Randy Nicklas recently released a podcast available through the Company’s website, Xo.com, which details the benefits for potential customers. Nicklas pointed out the continual efforts to improve the Company’s network in terms of price, speed and performance, and the constant ongoing work to prepare for emerging needs which arise as the technology and demands of the customer’s network advance.

Nicklas pointed to these new “high-speed, low latency network offerings” as an ideal solution for mission-critical applications, and pointed out the clear advantages in terms of cost, efficiency and revenue generation potential which the new services can provide.
