Organic To Go™ (OTGO.OB) Opens Franchise Location to Bring Healthy, Fresh Food Items to San Diego International Airport

Organic To Go™ (OTGO.OB) was pleased to announce today its first grab-and-go franchise site at the San Diego International Airport (SDI). Organic To Go is the nation’s first fast-casual chain to be certified by the USDA as an organic retailer. The company’s new, fully branded Organic To Go site is located in the food court of Terminal 1 at SDI.

Organic To Go specializes in providing fresh and healthy “clean” food that is free of pesticides, chemicals, antibiotics, additives, growth hormones, or genetic modifications. Whenever possible, the company uses ingredients that are certified organic and locally sourced. The new site at SDI will feature Organic To Go’s full service menu including pre-wrapped hot and toasted sandwiches, mini-pizzas, hot soup, made-to-order sandwiches, coffee and espresso drinks.

Jason Brown, CEO of Organic To Go, is excited about the launch of the new franchise site and commented, “Showcased in the midst of Chili’s, McDonalds, Baja Fresh and Starbucks, Organic To Go’s fresh, ‘clean’ menu options and vegetarian alternatives make a great deal of sense for travelers to and from southern California, allowing for a complete set of choices. As airlines pull back from complimentary foodservice on flights, Organic To Go offers a quick grab & go option that is not only delicious, but also nutritious.”

Organic To Go has negotiated with Concessions Management Services (CMS), a multi-concept concession company, to manage the fully-branded location at SDI. CMS already works with Organic To Go at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on nine kiosk locations that serve Organic To Go items. The company also has an agreement with HMS Host to provide meals at one of their locations at LAX.

“Organic To Go is truly a different option. They offer healthy and delicious organic choices that are fast and easy to take on board a plane. People are very happy to have great-tasting choices for meals made with organic ingredients, and we look forward to growing our relationship with Organic To Go at other airports throughout the country,” stated Clarence Daniels, President and CEO of CMS. “We’ve witnessed impressive customer response and growth at our LAX locations since offering the Organic To Go options. Thus CMS is excited to expand with Organic To Go into San Diego.”

Organic To Go has already been recognized by Nation’s Restaurant News, the restaurant industry’s leading publication, when it received the Hot Concept! Award in 2008. The company has now expanded to more than 120 wholesale locations and over 50 sites on 15 university campuses. Organic To Go has a large presence in Seattle, where it is headquartered. The company supplies food to a number of local medical facilities, such as The University of Washington Medical Center, Children’s Hospital and Harborview Medical Center, and provides catering services to such companies as Microsoft, Starbucks, Amazon, and Google.
