Juhl Wind, Inc. (JUHL) Forms New Subsidiary to Focus on Smaller Scale Wind and Solar Systems

Juhl Wind, a community-based wind power development and management company, today introduced its newly formed subsidiary, Juhl Renewable Energy Systems, Inc. (JRES), which was created to address market needs for smaller scale wind and solar systems business.

“With great success over the last two years of developing larger community wind farms, the time seems right to expand our attention to the growing demand in the medium/small business market and residential sector,” Dan Juhl, chairman and CEO of Juhl Wind stated in the press release. “We are confident the demand for products in this market is there due to the increased interest we’ve received direct from potential customers, as well as a continuous flow of utility rebate and incentive programs.”

Dan Juhl said the formation of JRES is a natural step for the growth of Juhl Wind’s line of offerings because it allows the company to scale-down and capitalize on its bigger industry experience in a smaller setting.

“Juhl Wind has played a strong role in making renewable energy more acceptable to government and its utility regulators,” Dan Juhl stated. “Our company has helped several communities achieve higher energy independence, while also working with utilities and their customers to design favorable approaches to expanding the reach of renewable energy. This involvement gives our team a unique knowledge of the needs of both utilities and their customers, and insight into some of the largest market segments in the renewable energy business, including rural farming operations, municipalities, medium/small business and residential consumers. The fact that our company is based in, and operates out of, small, rural communities, gives us a keen understanding of this market.”

JRES will focus on the sales and installation of Juhl’s on-site renewable energy systems: Solarbank®, an on-site solar system; Powerbank, a simple on-site backup power system; and newly designed Juhl Windharvester, an advanced medium scale wind turbine.

The new subsidiary will head-up its projects in their entirety, with plans to provide several financing structures.
