Viking Systems, Inc. (VKNG.OB) Announces Appointment of Yuri Kazakevich as Vice President of Research and Development

Viking Systems, Inc., a leading worldwide developer, manufacturer and marketer of visualization solutions for complex minimally invasive surgery, recently announced that Yuri Kazakevich has joined the company as the vice president of research and development. Mr. Kazakevich holds 15 U.S. Patents related to the field of visualization in minimally invasive surgery with three additional patents pending.

Prior to joining Viking Systems, Mr. Kazakevich worked for Smith & Nephew Endoscopy where he led the company’s research and development efforts in optics and camera development. Mr. Kazakevich earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in optical engineering at the Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics, Leningrad, USSR.

Commenting on Mr. Kazakevich’s position, Jed Kennedy, president and chief executive officer of Viking Systems, stated, “Yuri is joining Viking at an important stage, as the company positions itself to lead the way in the 3DHD surgical vision systems.” Mr. Kennedy further commented, “We believe Yuri will provide the technical leadership needed to accelerate the development of our Next Generation system, improve our intellectual property portfolio, and strengthen our technology leadership position in the 3DHD surgical visualization market.”
