Susser Holdings Corp. reported its same store sales statistics for the fourth quarter of 2009 and full year 2009. The company said that same store merchandise sales fell by 1.2% in the fourth quarter vs. last year. In full year 2009, same store merchandise sales increased by 3.3%.
Sam L. Susser, the CEO of Susser Holdings Corporation, said, “Last year was the 21st consecutive year that Susser realized positive annual same-store sales growth. The fourth quarter merchandise comparison reflects the fact that the recession accelerated in Texas in the last part of 2009. Our fourth quarter retail fuel volume also compares against a three-month period of increasing gasoline demand a year earlier, fueled by falling prices at the pump.”
Susser Holdings Corporation operates 520 convenience stores in the Southwest United States. The company operates its stores under the Stripes and Town and County Brands.
Susser Holdings Corporation offers restaurant service at many of its stores using the Laredo Taco Company and Country Cookin’ brands. The company also offers gasoline to independent dealers through a wholesale fuel division.
