Today, BWI Holdings, Inc. announced that it has entered into a three year contract with Alberta Sustainable Resource Development. Under the terms of the contract, BWI will provide water trucks for fighting forest fires in Alberta and neighboring provinces on an on-call basis. The agreement commences April 1, 2009.
The Provincial Forest Fire Centre works with the ten Fire Management Areas in the Province to coordinate suppression and pre-suppression efforts. The province has access to everything needed to quickly respond to a wildfire, including: highly trained Type 1, 2 and 3 wildland firefighters plus leases airtankers, patrol aircraft, helicopters, dozers, crawlers, low-boys, and catering.
