‘Tis the cold and flu season and with rising insurance costs and people still struggling economically across the country, more and more people are hitting the stores to pick up medicine without going to the doctor. With nearly 100 million people each year coming down with a cold, there is certainly an opportunity available for sales of a solid product.
The time was ripe for Austin, Texas-based TheraBiogen, a manufacturer and distributor of homeopathic nasal sprays, when it began selling TheraMax® Cold & Flu Relief and TheraMax® Allergy Relief in the Fall of 2010 at Rite Aid stores. Through a joint promotion between Rite Aid and TheraBiogen, the products have sold out in most Rite Aid stores and, as a result, Rite Aid has placed additional orders to re-stock its shelves. Consumer acceptance has been high for both nasal sprays which are available at the all of the retail pharmacy locations. The products are made from natural, homeopathic ingredients and do not contain zinc, which has been identified as potentially causing nasal problems in other similar products on the market.
Commenting on the restocking orders and nationwide sales, Kelly Hickel, CEO of TheraBiogen, Inc., stated, “We are very excited at the enthusiastic reception both by Rite Aid management and consumers. As we expand distribution, we expect to see that same great support from consumers.”
Even with the success of their products in Rite Aid, TheraBiogen has been a quiet company. It was two months ago that news was released that it had signed a Letter of Agreement with Spring Creek’s (OTCBB:SCRK) wholly owned subsidiary, DelRX Pharmaceutical Corp., for licensing of its proprietary drug delivery system. The DelRX system delivers homeopathics and critical therapeutic drugs through the oral mucosa of the buccal cavity. As explained by Mr. Hickel, the DelRX delivery platform enables a product line extension for TheraBiogen allowing them to meet consumer preferences for nasal or oral delivery. The two companies were slated to begin product implementation as soon as practicable, but no details have been released at this point.
