Penn Virginia Corp. issued an operations update on the company’s oil and gas activities in various domestic basins during the third quarter of 2010. The company is active in many different areas, including the Granite Wash, Selma Chalk and Cotton Valley plays.
Penn Virginia Corp. reported total production of 13.3 billion cubic feet of natural gas equivalent during the third quarter of 2010. This comes to an average of 144.3 million cubic feet of natural gas equivalent per day.
In the same quarter of 2009, Penn Virginia Corp. reported total production of 11.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas equivalent, or 121.3 million cubic feet of natural gas equivalent per day. The production totals for the third quarter of 2009 are pro forma and exclude assets on the Gulf Coast that were sold by the company.
Penn Virginia Corp. reported that it drilled eleven wells into the Granite Wash formation in Oklahoma during the third quarter of 2010. The company also completed eleven wells here during the quarter.
Penn Virginia Corp. also said that it completed three wells into the Cotton Valley formation in Texas. The wells had initial production rates ranging from 2.5 to 4.1 million cubic feet of natural gas equivalent per day.
In the Selma Chalk in Mississippi, Penn Virginia Corp. completed five gross wells with initial production rates between 1.0 and 2.0 million cubic feet of natural gas equivalent per day.
