Viking Systems, Inc. (VKNG.OB) Teams With Sony to Bring 3DHD Surgical Vision to “Hospital Build Asia 2010”

Viking Systems Inc. is a leading worldwide developer, manufacturer and marketer of 2D and 3D visualization solutions for complex, minimally invasive surgery. The company today announced that a prototype version of its next-generation 3DHD vision system will be demonstrated in Sony’s booth at ‘Hospital Build Asia 2010′ which will run May 11-13 in Singapore.

Hospital Build Asia 2010 exhibition and congress provides a forum for the healthcare industry and decision-makers from key markets across the region to identify and evaluate the latest in medical device technology. These people will be making critical decisions about how to provide the best and most cost-effective healthcare for patients in the region.

Viking Systems’ president and CEO, Jed Kennedy, commented, “Hospital Build Asia 2010 is a particularly important venue for the company and our technology given that we expect Asia’s growth in healthcare spending to lead the world, particularly in China where a recently-adopted healthcare reform program could lead to the construction of up to 2,000 hospitals over the next 5 years.”

In October 2009, at the American College of Surgeons’ annual clinical congress, Viking Systems first publicly demonstrated the next-generation 3DHD camera system utilizing a prototype Sony 3DHD flat panel display. During 2010, the company intends to complete the development of this unique next-generation system and currently plans to launch the system in the fourth quarter of 2010.
